2,444 Women-led MSMEs Reported Shut Down In FY23

New Delhi, Aug 11 (KNN) About 2,444 number of women- headed MSMEs closed during the period of 2022-23, as per Udyam Portal, informed Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

In the current fiscal year till 4 May 2023 total 320 MSMEs led by women have shut down so far and during FY 2021-22 the tally was 1,040, as per the official government data.

The MoS also shared the number of women owned MSMEs registered on Udyam Portal of Ministry of MSME.

According to year-wise data, 652,715 women owned MSMEs have been registered so far in the present financial year till 8 August 2023.

In FY23 and FY22 the registration recordS are 1487,840 and 910,375, respectively.

He emphasised on various schemes launched by the government to encourage entrepreneurship among women.

Through an amendment to the Public Procurement Policy, the Government has mandated that all Central Ministries/ Departments and Public Sector Undertakings should procure at least 3% of their annual procurement from women owned micro and small enterprises, said the MoS.

The Ministry also implements several other schemes for promotion and development of MSMEs, including women owned MSMEs, namely, Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), Tool Rooms & Technology Centres, Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), Procurement and Marketing Support Scheme, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (ESDP).  (KNN Bureau)
