Alibaba.com launches online platform - SMILE for Indian SMEs

New Delhi,  Dec 8 (KNN) :-The global wholesale trading platform giant Alibaba.com, a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, today announced the official launch of an online platform SMILE (Small and Medium Industries Leveraging Export) at CII Global SME Business Summit 2015. SMILE aims to provide Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) access to global business trading counterparts as well as one-stop trading solutions including financing, logistics (domestic and cross-border), inspections and certifications, technology and SME trade-linked education.

The Global wholesale trading giant Alibaba.com, a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, today announced the official launch of an online platform SMILE (Small and Medium Industries Leveraging Export) at CII Global SME Business Summit 2015.

ICIC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Crisil Rating, Tally, Capital Float, Jeena, SGS, Mypacco in financing, credit rating, software, online lending, transportation, inspection and verification, and online logistics respectively, have become the partners for the SMILE program, an official release said.

By offering combined trading solutions to Indian SMEs, SMILE hopes to make cross-border trading easier, helping over 10 million SMEs in India to explore global trading opportunities in a more cost-effect way, the release added.

This initiative comes in the backdrop of the “Make in India” program, which was launched by the Government of India to encourage multinational, as well as domestic, companies to manufacture their products in India. To support the “Make in India” program, The SMILE initiative hopes to connect Indian manufacturers with quality Chinese suppliers on Alibaba.com, provide Indian sellers the trading support through SMILE platform, and facilitate the global sales of Indian products through Alibaba.com. The online program also echoes well with the “Digital India” initiative by the Government, stated in release.

The official release also said, In addition, the SMILE platform will provide new products and services leveraging on the strength and capabilities of joining enterprises, such as facilitating access of Indian merchants with good trading record based on their previous logistics and trading history to local credit line providers.

The SMILE program aims to provide multiple privileges offered by collaborating service providers and bring values across channels to Indian SMEs. As such, Indian SMEs can focus on manufacturing and production while enjoying the easy access to efficient B2B trading solutions. With support from local organizations like CII and local associations, digital media and new innovative data-linked programs, SMILE is dedicated to assisting the economic development of the SME sector in India.
