Another Samsung unit at Noida will bring more biz for MSMEs, create more jobs: NEA to KNN

Noida, Oct 19 (KNN) As Samsung announces Rs 2000 crore extra investment in Noida, a city which has emerged as an industrial hub and front-ranking city in the state, the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the region are optimistic to get more business opportunities along with job creation in the state.

The Uttar Pradesh government has on Monday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samsung group for setting up a unit in Noida.

UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that in the coming days, after Samsung, Patanjali and many other major companies would come forward to sign MoU's with the state government.

Meanwhile, another two handset makers—VIVO and Spice mobile—are also looking for land in Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area.

Talking to KNN, Vipin Malhan, President, Noida Entrepreneurs Authority (NEA), said “After a long time such a big investment has come to the state. This will not only help in job creation for thousands of people but would also generate business opportunities for MSMEs.”

“These electronic companies buy lots of small parts and components from small industries. So this is sure to generate business opportunity not only in Noida but across India,” Malhan said.

Currently, he pointed, the manufacturing unit of Samsung in Noida works at the comparatively smaller level.

“This is a big announcement and the industry here is hailing this,” NEA President added.

Sharing his views on whether Noida is infrastructure wise ready to cater to these companies, Malhan said, “Noida is one of the best cities to do business now. The infrastructure here is very good.”

Meanwhile, with the rising traffic and parking woes in the industrial areas in Noida, the Noida authority was considering action against city based factory owners who park their vehicles outside their campus violating the provision of parking lots within such units.

The Noida Authority was planning to conduct a survey to find out the number of industrial units that have parking provision within their campus. The authority said that more than 50 per cent industrial units have parking provision as part of their layout plan. It said that in Phase II and III it is mandatory for industrials units to make parking provisions in their layout.

Talking on this, Malhan said, “When the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (Noida) came into existence back in 1977, nobody thought that it would develop into such a massive industrial township.”

The factory owners do have the basements as per the norms for parking, however, some industrialists use it for other purposes, he pointed.

While on the other hand, he said, even the encroachments, street vendors, lapses in traffic management have added to all the problems.

“As soon as we enter from Delhi to Noida, we can see the difference in traffic management. People put off their helmets, remove seat belts, follow no traffic rules. These too need to be checked,” he said.

Explaining that the budget allocation for Noida, which was Rs 9000 crore last year, if utilized properly can solve many issues, Malhan said.

Noida was ranked as the Best City in Uttar Pradesh and the Best City in Housing in all of India in awards conducted by ABP news in 2015 (Best City Awards 2015). Noida replaced Mumbai as the second-best realty destination, according to an analyst report.

Noida has emerged as a hot spot for IT and IT-enabled services industry with many large companies setting up their businesses here. It is becoming the preferred destination for companies offering IT, ITeS, BPO, BTO and KPO services in various domains such as banking, financial services, insurance, pharma, auto, fast-moving consumer goods and manufacturing. Samsung unit should be decentralized in the entire state in order to keep away traffic and pollution rather than selecting only Noida. It is good news which create more jobs.
