Assocham to organize seminar for pharma SMEs on IP awareness

Mumbai, July 4 (KNN) In a move to create a balance between Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and healthcare sector, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) is organising a seminar here.

The seminar, “IPR for SMEs in PHARMA” - Challenges & Opportunities will be held here on August 6.

The Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks, Chaitanya Prasad and Minister of State for MSME, K H Muniyappa will attend the event, the chamber said.

Healthcare Industry is one of the world's largest and fastest-growing segments which consume over 10 per cent of GDP of most developed nations.

India is swiftly budding into a technology-led country, particularly in arena of Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology which necessitates an urgent need for capacity building of these sectors to reap benefits out of it, said the release.

“The objective of the seminar is to nurture I P culture & implement it in healthcare / pharmaceutical sector which will exert positive inducements on healthcare technological innovation, promote equitable drug pricing, accessible healthcare, commercialization of I P, protect a firm’s R&D investments, spur incentives for innovation and encourage diffusion of knowledge, Assocham said.

This will further impart greater vitality & growth impetus to the healthcare sector in terms of output, employment and exports thereby instilling a competitive culture based on heightened technology awareness, financial stability, improved production methods and better markets penetration globally, it further added.
