Kolkata, Mar 17 (KNN) An awareness programme on ZED (Zero Defect Zero Effect) Certification Scheme and Goods & Services Tax (GST) is being held for micro, small and medium enterprise (MSMEs) in Kolkata on March 21, 2017.

The Federation of Small & Medium Industries (FOSMI), West Bengal, is organizing the event. It will be held at “Udayan Industrial Estate” 3, Pagladanga Road, Kolkata.

The basic objective of the programme on ZED is to create proper awareness in MSMEs about ZED Manufacturing and motivate them for assessment of their enterprises for ZED rating.

The Government of India is very keen on the project and plans to bring 22,222 units within the ambit of ZED Certification Scheme in 2-3 years time and 1.25 million units in 5-7 years time.

“All MSMEs engaged in manufacturing can aspire to obtain ZED Maturity Certificate and enjoy the consequent benefits. The Government has already allocated a massive amount towards subsidy for obtaining ZED Maturity Certificate in the 12th Five Years Plan,” said the organizers.

This programme will be addressed by QCI accreditated faculty.

GST can arguably be described as the most significant tax reform of the country since independence. It will have an impact on all types of businesses. The exact date of implementation of GST has not yet been announced but it is likely to be 1st July 2017.

“The awareness programme on GST will be addressed by Nandini Ghosh, Senior Joint Commissioner, Directorate of Commercial Taxes, Government of West Bengal who will speak mainly on the process of filing of returns in GST system,” FOSMI said. (KNN Bureau)
