Bengaluru, Nov 12 (KNN)  Karnataka industry body organised an interactive meeting here with the Mayor of Bangalore to apprise him of their challenges with regard to trade licenses, garbage, street lighting and better roads in industrial areas.

The discussion dwelt at length on garbage that remains un-cleared in the industrial areas.

According to industrialists, they are unable to invite foreign clients to their factories.  Further their orders have been affected because overseas clients believe that factories located in garbage strewn areas would be incapable of handling their orders.

The problem could be attributed to industrial estates housing residential homes which litter the area, especially after working hours.  In the absence of a proper system for garbage clearance, the area remains littered for days together.

In response to the appeal by industry representatives, the Mayor of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)  B S Sathyanarayana assured them he would address the issue by putting in place a system by which garbage is cleared at least once a week.

However, with regard to their demand for the abolition of trade licences, the Mayor asked them to take their request to the BBMP’s taxation and finance committee and the state government.

The meeting with the Mayor was organised by the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) on November-11.

BBMP is an administrative body responsible for the civic and infrastructural assets of the Greater Bangalore metropolitan area.

Other officials who attended the meeting were IAS Commissioner, BBMP - Lakshmi Narayan, MLA, Vijayanagar Constituency - M Krishnappa MLA, Govindarajnagar Constituency - Priya Krishna and Corporator, Agrahara Dasarahalli Ward - Rupa Devi.

Associations that were represented were – Kassia, Peenya Industries Association, Bangalore North Small Scale Industries Association, among others.   (KNN/ES)
