Bengal MSMEs Expand Global Reach Through Amazon's Export Program

Kolkata, Sep 23 (KNN) Approximately 3,500 traders from West Bengal's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector have enrolled in Amazon Global Selling this year, according to Amazon India's Director of Global Trade, Bhupen Wakankar.

This program facilitates international trade in markets including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Germany.

The participating exporters hail from various districts in West Bengal, including Kolkata, South and North 24 Parganas, Burdwan, Howrah, Hooghly, and Darjeeling.

The primary export categories from the state encompass textiles, home appliances, kitchen products, luggage, footwear, and lawn and garden-related items.

Wakankar emphasised the role of technology in simplifying e-commerce exports for MSMEs in Bengal and across India. "Amazon Global Selling is empowering exporters to reach customers globally," he stated.

The company is investing in tools and technologies aimed at helping sellers optimise their reach, enhance product discovery, and increase sales.

Amazon has set an ambitious target to enable USD 20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by 2025.

This initiative is part of the company's broader strategy to leverage technology in supporting small and medium-sized businesses in expanding their global footprint.
