Bengal MSME&T Department to set up art design centre for artisans: Amit Mitra

New Delhi, Dec 29 (KNN) The Bengal Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and Textiles (MSME&T) Department is going to set up a state-of-the-art design centre for artisans.

This was announced by Dr Amit MItra, Finance Minister of West Bengal while inaugurating the West Bengal State Handicrafts Expo, officially titled Hastashilpa Mela.

Since more and more products from the MSME sector of the State are being exported, with the help of the State Government and various chambers of commerce, the design centre would also come of help in incorporating the latest designs according to the demands of international markets.

The government has enabled the participation of craftsmen in as many as 62 State-level fairs and 10 national-level fairs, as well as some international fairs.

At the design centre, artisans would be taught to use software to create design.

Thus designs can be created faster and more intricately.
