Big opportunities seen for MSMEs in five nodes of Tamil Nadu Defence Corridor

New Delhi, 3 Nov (KNN) In an effort to develop the Defence Manufacturing hub in MSME sector in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) has partnered with Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

All the three parties signed a MoU in the presence of Minister for Industries Thangam Thennarasu, on Monday.

In view of MSMEs, the Tamil Nadu Defence Corridor with five Nodes at Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Salem and Hosur holds exponential opportunity in the state.

This will also foster employment opportunities for the youth of the State, playing a vital role in achieving Tamil Nadu’s economy a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030.

In the first phase “Champion MSME Industries” in each of the five Nodes will be identified.

Further through guidance and support they will be enabled with managerial and technical capabilities to meet the demands of the Defence Sector.

There are various needs of the MSME sector in meeting the Defence indigenisation and manufacturing requirements, which will be addressed in this partnership.

Skillset development, infrastructure buildup and investment promotion in Defence Manufacturing ecosystem in the State will be their key focus.
