New Delhi, Aug 13 (KNN) With Haryana setting up 31 common facility centres (CFCs) under the Cluster Development Scheme to enhance growth of micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), CII has called other northern states to follow suit.

“Welcoming the Haryana government’s move to set up 31 CFCs under the Cluster Development Scheme for the growth of MSMEs, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has termed it crucial and a much needed step towards strengthening the sector and has called other northern states to follow suit,” said a statement.

The CFCs will act as a platform for testing and establishing new designs and prototypes. The move will surely act as institutional support mechanism for the sector which is facing severe slowdown, it said.

Further, these centres under cluster format are imperative to make the processes and products more cost effective, marketable and self-sustainable. Other northern states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir etc should come up with such initiatives and set up incubation centres.

Such facilities at low rents might help youth to implement new ideas with some capital investments.

“The MSMEs and small component suppliers need such support in order to meet the global standards of competitiveness,” said the Chairman of Northern Region CII Jayant Davar.

It will strengthen the collective action of the sector in terms of technology upgradation, brand building and marketing, standardization of products and quality testing, he said.

Meanwhile, the Haryana government has decided to set up 31 CFCs in the state in public-private-partnership (PPP) mode to give the sector a decisive push. (KNN/GUNJ)
