CII urge CM Vijayan to ensure MSMEs do not get affected due to general strike on March 28-29

Kochi, Mar 22 (KNN) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has urged Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to make sure that MSME businesses are not impacted due to the nationwide general strike which is scheduled to take place on 28-29 March, 2022.

The strike has been announced by the joint central trade unions and has amassed support from various trade unions across the country against the pro-corporate policies of the central government.

CII wrote a letter to CM Vijayan requesting him to understand the economic pressure that MSME units, trade and industry still continue to face and appealed him to limit the strike so that normal life and business are not affected under any circumstance.

The trade body pointed out that business loans have increased but there is no adequate business to service the loan.

CII has warned that if this remains the same, financial institutions will see a rise in Nonperforming assets (NPAs) in the coming future.

Although the restrictions have been lifted with regards to the lockdown by the impact it created still remains, hence a nationwide has the potential to disrupt the slowly recovering industrial activities, said CII. (KNN Bureau)
