Committee under RBI to examine MSMEs' credit issues

New Delhi, Aug 14 (KNN) In order to examine issues relating to improvement of credit to micro small and medium enterprises (MSME), a standing advisory committee has been constituted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with Deputy Governor as the Chairman. 

“A standing advisory committee has been constituted by the RBI with Deputy Governor as the Chairman, officials of Ministry of MSME, banks and associations as members, to discuss issues concerning MSMEs. It examines issues relating to improving of credit to the sector and other difficulties,” said the Minster of MSME K H Muniyappa here.

Further, Empowered Committees (EC) have been constituted at the regional offices of RBI under the chairmanship of the regional directors with representations from state level bankers' committee (SLBC) conveners, senior level officers, etc.

The committees meets atleast once in a quarter to review the credit flow to micro and small enterprises and coordinate with banks and financial institutions to ensure smooth flow of credit to the sector.

The committee will also have representative from Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), the directorate of industries of the state government, one or two senior level members from the MSME associations etc.  

Meanwhile, MSME contribution to India’s total exports during 2012-13 was 43 per cent.  (KNN/GUNJ)
