Consultative Committee meeting held on Welfare of Unorganised Workers

New Delhi, April 7 (KNN) The Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge) Bandaru Dattatreya chaired the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting attached to his Ministry yesterday in New Delhi. The Minister briefed the members on the agenda of the meeting relating to "Welfare of Unorganised Worker".
 
R K Sinha (RS), Prahlad Singh Patel, Shankar Prasad Datta, NK Premchandran, MK Raghvan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Kaushal Kishore were some of the members of the committee who attended the meeting.
 
The members suggested the ministry to enhance old age pension as the medical expenses are on a rise with age, making stringent provisions to ensure minimum wage payment to the workers.
 
The minister was also asked to come up with employment oriented alternative schemes for the children in need of employment and Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna. 
 
The Minister assured his ministry would pay consideration to their valuable suggestions and urged them to come up with more such proposals to improve the welfare of the unorganized workers.
 
The Committee held its last meeting in December last year where they discussed on ESIC. (KNN/VV)
