Consumer exhibition HOSCON-2014 begins today in Hosur, TN

Hosur, Mar 7 (KNN)  As many as 84 domestic and industrial companies will exhibit various kinds of consumers goods such as consumables, solar power systems, furniture, interiors, construction products and electronic items at HOSCON-2014 that begins here today.

The three day event has been organised by Hosur Small and Tiny Industries Association (HOSTIA) in association with the MSME Ministry; and is sponsored by SIDBI, NSIC and Canara Bank among others.

The highlight of the event is a seminar for small and medium units.  The sessions would cover topics such as Financial support and subsidies available from the government and banks; quality improvement at shop floor; world class best practices (LEAN, WCM, TPM); and advanced machinery for consumable product manufacturing.

Established in 1978, HOSTIA is a representative body of about 2000 MSMEs located in Hosur.  It is dedicated to the upliftment of small and micro industries by working with growth agencies like central and state government promotional arms such as MSME-DI, NSIC, SIDCO, NPC, NID, SIDBI, TIIC Ltd, SBI, IDBI, etc.

HOSTIA is currently establishing a common facility centre using the cluster concept and the HOSTIA industries estate.

A key industrial town, Hosur is located at the north west periphery of Tamil Nadu state bordering Karnataka and 40 kms from Bangalore.  Industrialisation of the town began after founding of Sipcot Industrial Complex in 1975 by the state government and gradual establishment of industries like Ashok Leyland Ltd, TVS Motors Ltd, Asian Tobacco Ltd, Titan Industries Ltd, Carborandum Universal Ltd, etc.
 
The units located at Hosur manufacture sophisticated products ranging from hosiery needles, trucks, automobile parts, motor cycles, mopeds, textiles, food products, pharmaceutical drugs, instant coffee, electronics, castings, forgings, cigarettes, abrasives, cutting tools, granites and aircrafts.  (KNN/ES)
