CSIR-NIIST curates One Week One Lab programme for MSMEs

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 1 (KNN) CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST) has designed a six-day ‘One Week One Lab (OWOL)’ programme which will focus on MSMEs and showcase the innovations, tech technological breakthroughs achieved by the laboratory.

It has planned to host a series of programmes at its campus at Pappanamcode in Thiruvananthapuram from March 13 to 18, 2023.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, C Anandharamakrishnan, director, CSIR-NIIST, Thiruvananthapuram said, “The programme is designed in a way that supports and encourages the MSME sector. Thousands of industries are depending on MSME and last year, about 30 per cent of our GDP’s contribution came from this sector.”

On the sidelines of OWOL, a Millet Food Festival and expo will be held as a part of the International Year of Millets (IYM), he confirmed.

IYM was approved by the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the UN to promote the consumption of millet across the globe.

A farmers’ meet is also scheduled which will be attended by regional farmers.

Another highlight of the event is the two exclusive sessions by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM).  (KNN Bureau)
