Draft QCO issued to check imports for 16 products including cycle parts, pumps & utensils

New Delhi, Jan 4 (KNN) The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has invited comments from industry associations, R&D institutions on draft Quality Control Orders (QCOs) related to 16 products till January 15, 2023.

It is in pursuance of Prime Minister’s call for “ZeroDefect- Zero Effect” manufacturing.

The list includes Bicycle & Bicycle Parts, Electrical Accessories, Pumps, Legal metrology – Material measures of length, Cast Iron Products, Door fittings, Cookware & Utensils, Communication Cable, Structured- wall plastics piping systems and fittings, Safes, Safe Deposit Locker Cabinets, and key locks.

For Bicycle & Bicycle Parts it will be compulsory to use Standard Mark for Rims, Cycle Chains – Characteristics & test methods and Cycle Safety requirements for Bicycles as well as for young children’s bicycles.

This is not applicable to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) shall be the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles.

Further the list entails Water meters and accessories, Miscellaneous Steel Products, Domestic Gas Stoves for use with Piped Natural Gas (PNG), Air Cooler and Air filters, Bottled Water dispensers, Precision Roller and Bush Chains and Attachments and Associated Chain Sprockets.
