Eastern India's Growth Hinges On Future Readiness Of MSMEs, Says CII President

Kolkata, Mar 11 (KNN) For the eastern Indian region to prosper, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) must prepare for the future, said R. Dinesh, President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Saturday.

Speaking at the 'Future Ready to be Future Proof' conference in Kolkata, Dinesh underscored the pivotal role of MSMEs in driving development.

He emphasised, “If the east is to grow and scale up successfully, it will largely depend on the readiness of MSMEs for the future.”

Additionally, Dinesh highlighted the need for the East to lead in enhancing capacity both digitally and skill-wise, asserting that seizing this opportunity could shape the future positively.

Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII, stressed the significance of state-specific focus areas. He emphasised the need for a tailored framework for the eastern region, aiming to deeply engage in specific sectors to upskill and prepare for future-ready jobs.

The CII is actively working on establishing diverse training centres and engaging policymakers in the Northeast to address logistical challenges.

Banerjee further noted the eastern region's strong mineral base, suggesting the establishment of centres of excellence focused on minerals.

During the conference's inaugural session, West Bengal Health Secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam highlighted the crucial role of adaptation across all sectors in a dynamic environment.

He identified key areas such as talent development, customer-centric approaches, robust risk management strategies, and the integration of data analysis skills into decision-making processes as essential for thriving in today's dynamic business landscape.
