ECLGS assists 81 lakh women led MSMEs, Haryana ranks number 1 with disbursement of Rs 566 cr

Chandigarh, April 6 (KNN) About 81.18 lakh women led MSMEs across the country have been provided with loans under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) with the state of Haryana having the highest disbursement figure of Rs 566 crore.

Replying to a parliamentary question, Smriti Irani, Minister of Women and Child Development informed that as of February 28, 2022 women entrepreneurs from Haryana have been the biggest beneficiaries and in Punjab Rs 378 crore to 88,427 cases were guaranteed.

For the neighbouring of Himachal Pradesh, Rs 378 crore in 88,427 cases and Rs 109 crore to 8,436 women entrepreneurs, respectively, were guaranteed.

In the UTs of J&K, Chandigarh and Ladakh, loans to the tune of Rs 103 crore, Rs 29 crore and Rs 7.50 crore were guaranteed to 4,240, 1,340 and 171 women applicants, said the data.

Trading sector (including small kirana shops), followed by food processing, textiles and commercial dairy enjoy the largest chunk of loan guarantee.

As per MSME Ministry’s Annual Report 2020-21, only 20 per cent of the 63 million MSMEs in India are owned by women. (KNN Bureau)
