Entries called for National Productivity & Innovation Awards

New Delhi, Jan 19 (KNN)  Applications have been invited from Indian organisations, industrial units particularly MSMEs operating in the sectors of electronics and IT hardware, leather products, light electrical, sports goods, toys and textiles for the National Productivity and Innovation Awards.

Last date for receipt of applications is February-15.

“The objectives of the National Productivity and Innovation Award is to bring forward innovative enterprises in select sectors who through their innovative actions have introduced breakthrough changes in products, services, processes for augmenting enterprise level productivity and competitiveness to become role models for others to emulate,” said a press notification from the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) today.

It said that awards will be given in three categories – Micro (for organisations and industrial units with capital investment up to Rs 25 lakh); Small (with capital investment between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 5 crore); and Medium (with capital investment between Rs 5 crore and Rs 10 crore).

There will be three awards – first, second and third for each sector separately in micro, small and medium categories based on the comprehensive analysis of the performance of the unit on productivity and innovation factors.  Every winning enterprise will receive an award trophy along with a certificate.

For the electronics and IT hardware sector, units engaged in consumer electronics, control instrumentation industrial electronics (medical/automobiles, ICT hardware, telecommunication and broadcasting equipment, electronic components, security and surveillance equipment) are eligible to apply for the award.

Further, for the leather products sector, units involved in footwear, tannery, leather garments and leather goods such as gloves, bags and wallets can apply.

For manufacturing units in the light electrical sector, those making switches and plugs, motors, fans, tube-light/CFL/LED, desert cooler, cooling units, cables, vacuum cleaner are entitled to send in entries.

As far as sports goods category is concerned, those units making sports goods and accessories, fitness and health equipment; and in the toys sector those making plastic toys, electronic and mechanical toys, dolls, metal toys and collectibles, puzzles and board games, wooden and traditional toys, as well as soft and plush toys can apply.

Finally, those making cotton, man-made, silk, wool yarn textiles and readymade garments and made-ups in all the segments as well as coir and coir products can apply for the awards.  (KNN/ES)
