FINER lauds Manipur's achievement in MSMEs' registrations; calls it 'an inspiration'

Imphal, Oct 12 (KNN) Lauding Manipur for topping in Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) registration in North East (NE) region, Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern region (FINER) Chairman RS Joshi on Saturday said that it's an inspiration.

''Despite barriers, if Manipur can achieve this feat as compare to other states, then definitely it’s an inspiration. It will also motivate other states to do so,'' he told KNN India.

He further said that happening of such things in Manipur is a big achievement. This will not only motivate people but also it will open door for many to set up businesses in the state.

''Now, door will be opened for MSMEs. There wasn't any industry culture and since the Manipur has achieve this feat it' a significant thing. In areas like this, if there is development through industries it's not a small thing,’’ he added.

''We want this to be highlighted nationally that is not the old state,'' he asserted.

While commenting on 50 per cent ownership by women, Joshi said, ''It's not for the first time, women have been dominating in such areas from the beginning only and it's a good thing to have.''

''Manipur has the potential to become a business hub. But there are some problems regarding connectivity and road communication problems which still lies in NE. We often lose connectivity because of shutdown 'Bandh'. These thing needs to improved,'' he said.

On being asked that as Federation head, taking a cue from Manipur, what message you will convey to other states in NE region, he replied, ''In Assam by and large everything is going fine, but in some pocket of this state nothing is happening, so taking cue from the neighboring state these pockets can take inspiration and improve themselves. If Manipur can do such things then why these pockets in Assam can’t perform, since they share their boundaries with almost every state.''

Notably, with 50 per cent ownership by women in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Manipur, the state has secured the top spot for having the largest number of registered MSME businesses in the Northeast region of the country.

As per the Ministry of MSME, report, from 2015 to 2019, a total of 68.25 lakh business registrations were done in the Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) for the country.

Out of 68.25 lakh business in Northeast region, Manipur had around 12,438 business registrations, Tripura had 2317, Assam had 2000, Mizoram had 1003, Meghalaya had 795, Nagaland had 292 and Sikkim had 288 business registrations.
