FISME condoles death of Shri Manohar Parrikar

New Delhi, Mar 18 (KNN) The members of the Central Executive Committee of FISME, have deeply mourned the sad demise of serving Chief Minister of Goa and former Defence Minister of India, who passed away on 17th March 2019.

FISME said, "Hailing from a modest background, he cracked IIT through grit and hard work. He set-up a Small Scale Industry in Goa and actively worked with SSI associations.  No wonder he was among the very few top political leaders in India who experienced the plight of MSMEs first hand and empathized with them.

Another hallmark of his political life has been his accessibility to people in general and industry associations in particular.

His elevation to Raksha Mantri, Defence Minister of India, has been acme of his career. He restored trust in the defence procurement process which had got mired in controversies over a decade. There are so many firsts to his name: whether it was game changing tactical decision of the first surgical strike or the ambitious capacity building programme in India’s defence sector for developing strategic defence platforms in partnership with private sector to produce Submarines, Ships, Aircrafts, Guns, Tanks etc."

What particularly stood out during his tenure as Defence Minister was his unflinching belief that Indian MSMEs have to be an integral part of India’s Defence production eco-system if India wants to realize self-sufficiency. In every meeting he Chaire  he emphasized this fact and made MSMEs part of consultative process at the highest level in Defence Ministry, FISME noted.

As if to walk the talk and to demonstrate he was serious about MSMEs, for the first time a Defence Minister Chaired an MSME Seminar with entire Defence procurement setup of the government in tow, and chose FISME’s platform to make key announcements in 2015, the CEC Members of the industry body said.

While the nation remembers him as a brilliant mind and a well meaning good leader,  MSMEs of the country also cherish and are proud of the accomplishment of a fellow MSME entrepreneur.
May his soul rest in peace, added FISME. (KNN Bureau)
