New Delhi, Aug 18 (KNN) Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) has asked for feedback from MSME manufacturers of Pressure Cookers on Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) norms.

The New Delhi headquartered MSME Association will collate the responses and forward it to the Delhi Branch Office of BIS which will hold consultations with stakeholders and manufacturers about Standards of Pressure Cooker.

BIS has two new standards for Commercial Pressure Cooker IS 17869: 2022 and Low Pressure Steam Cooker IS 17870:2022.

Consultations are part of the new initiative of BIS called “Manak Manthan” in which detailed discussion are held on the standards in wide circulation / newly published standards with stakeholders.

This will make them aware about the standard and can give comments for any necessary modification and changes required in standard before they are published and for revision of Standard.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) on Wednesday had passed an order on violation of consumer rights by e-commerce platform ‘Flipkart’ for allowing sale of domestic pressure cookers in violation to mandatory standards.

It has written to Director General, BIS to duly notify all regional branches of BIS to take immediate cognizance of offences of violation of mandatory standards under the provisions of BIS Act, 2016.  (KNN Bureau)
