FISME Seeks Industry Feedback On ECLGS 5.0 Continuation, Other MSME Credit Support Measures
New Delhi, Sep 2 (KNN) The government has decided to discontinue the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0, which was introduced in May to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affected by the crisis in West Asia.
The National Credit Guarantee Trust Company (NCGTC) has informed banks that the scheme will remain operational until the available guarantee cover of Rs 2.5 lakh crore is exhausted.
First-Come, First-Served Basis
According to the NCGTC communication, MSME applications for credit guarantees will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to the availability of guarantee cover.
Any loan sanctioned beyond the available guarantee cover will not be eligible under the scheme.
FISME Seeks Industry Feedback
Meanwhile, the Union Finance Ministry has sought industry suggestions on finance and credit support required by MSMEs.
The Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) is collecting feedback from industry and MSME associations on the benefits provided by ECLGS 5.0 and the need to continue the scheme until March 2027, as initially announced by the government.
FISME is also seeking suggestions on other finance and credit support measures required by MSMEs.
Industry bodies have been invited to submit their views and suggestions to FISME Joint Secretary mayank@fisme.org.in by September 7, 2026.
