“Neither Government nor corporate sector can create over one crore jobs needed  every year in India. They could only be created when millions of youth entering in job market opt to be an entrepreneur and set-up MSMEs” says Chairman of Friends of MSMEs.

‘But the creation of self-employment opportunities requires an enabling eco-system for MSMEs. It  not only requires ease in setting up enterprises but also support in many areas including finance, skills and marketing and that needs to be ensured", Agrawal noted.

The group intends to study and focus on resolving some of the binding constraints that impede and shackle MSME sector in India.

The group plans to hold consultations with MSMEs before each session of the Parliament to identify the major issues and raise their concerns at various Parliamentary fora and the Government.

Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME)- the national MSME body, is to function as Secretariat of Friends of MSMEs.

Accepting the responsibility and applauding the visionary approach of the MPs, President FISME Prashant Patel pledged to provide the institutional and research support to the group to sharpen the debate on MSME issues.

The Members of Parliament  were keen to take feed-back on impact of various MSME focused initiatives of the Central government taken recent past such as Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme and Budget announcements to encourage timely payment to MSMEs.

Besides Chairman Rajendra Agrawal, following Members of Parliament have joined the group namely Dhalsingh Bisen (Balaghat), Vivek Narum Shejwarkar (Gwalior), Guman Singh Damor (Ratlam), Ganesh Singh (Satna), Kunwar Pushpendra Singh Chandel (Hamirpur), Jagdambika Pal (Domariyaganj, UP), Nayab Singh (Kurukshetra), Dharmbir Chaudhary (Bhiwani-Mahendragarh), Ramesh Chander Kaushik (Sonipat), Sunita Duggal (Sirsa), Subhash Chand Baheria (Bhilwara), Jugal Kishor Sharma (Jammu) and Sushil Kumar Singh (Aurangabad).  (KNN Bureau)
