FISME’s Anil Bhardwaj nominated to Governing Board of EDII Ahmedabad

New Delhi, Mar 5 (KNN) The Secretary General of Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME), Mr Anil Bhardwaj, has been nominated as Member of the Governing Body of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad.

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), an autonomous and not-for-profit institute, set up in 1983, is sponsored by apex financial institutions - the IDBI Bank Ltd., IFCI Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd. and the State Bank of India (SBI).

The Governing Board of EDII includes Secretary, Ministry of MSME, CMD, SIDBI,  MD & CEO of IDBI Bank; MD & CEO, IFCI Ltd among others.

After serving for almost a decade in Private Sector in international trade, Mr Bhardwaj moved to work extensively in the fields of international trade and SME development.

He has advised or led several SME development projects supported by multilateral and bilateral donor agencies in India. His specializations include industrial and trade issues and framework conditions of promotional and regulatory environment for SMEs.

Recently. he was engaged as a Member, Damodaran Committee for Reforming the Regulatory Environment for Doing Business in India (Ministry of Corporate Affairs); Member of Drafting Committee for ‘National Voluntary Guidelines on Social, Environmental and Economic responsibilities of Business’ since notified by Ministry Corporate Affairs; Member of Advisory Group of IICA-GIZ CSR initiatives; Member, Project Advisory Committee 'National Competition Policy and Economic Growth in India'.

He has also worked for several SME promotion projects funded by Government of India, ILO, UNCTAD, UNIDO, EU, DFID, GTZ etc. Has been also engaged on various SME projects by ITC & UNCTAD (Geneva), Asian Productivity Council (Tokyo) and ADB among others.

Mr Bhardwaj, a MBA in International Business, has been an active voice in the media raising core issues and problems faced by the MSME sector in the country and in taking up the issues with the policy makers to help get it addressed. He has also authored several books and guides for SMEs.

EDII has been working towards fostering and expanding economic and employment potential of MSME sector. In January this year, Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for MSME inaugurated the MSME Research Block at EDII.

Within the purview of the MSME sector, EDII has contributed in the areas of sustainable development, entrepreneurship, policy advocacy, governance and MSME promotion and facilitation. EDII has also undertaken significant research work and studies to promote the MSME sector. (KNN Bureau)
