Flipkart & UP Export Promotion Bureau to market MSME products internationally

New Delhi, 8 Jan (KNN) The e-commerce giant, Flipkart which is backed by Walmart has signed an MoU with the Export Promotion Bureau, Government of Uttar Pradesh, to support the MSME sector. 

In this  pact, the e-commerce platform will help MSMEs turn their businesses into a digital space which will allow them to sell products in the global market through an online portal. 

Expressing his view on this development, state MSME minister Sidharth Nath Singh said, “Uttar Pradesh and its MSMEs are receiving recognition all over the world as it has registered record exports this year.”

“The government of Uttar Pradesh is leading the development of a vibrant ecosystem for the MSME sector through schemes such as Ubharte Sitaare and ODOP,” added the state MSME minister. 

Launched in 2019, Walmart Vriddhi aims to train 50,000 Indian MSMEs with the business skills necessary to succeed as suppliers to Walmart, sellers on Flipkart, and other domestic and global marketplace platforms. 

T Jagjeet Harode, Senior Director and Head – Marketplace, Flipkart, further added that the ecommerce giant’s partnership with the Government of Uttar Pradesh on the ODOP scheme has been a huge success, registering 52 percent quarterly growth since January 2020, across various product categories.

Nidhi Munjal, Vice President of International Partnership Services, Walmart said the company is looking forward to expanding its partnership with UP government. 

She said the company would provide opportunities to access online and offline markets in India and globally through local training and support.
