Kolkata, Oct 27 (KNN)  To equip its members with knowledge about international trade and procedures, the Federation of Small and Medium Industries (FOSMI) is organising an interactive session on how to export to international markets here.

To be addressed by an expert on export marketing, Amaresh Banerjee, the session will be held on October-31, according to an official release.

The session will broadly cover - how to export commercial goods into new international markets.  If an MSME unit is considering exporting – where does it begin, what procedures does it follow? How does it get an import-export code number from the regional Director General of Foreign Trade, etc.

A question that will certainly be dealt with is, if the units are ready to export; informing them that it is simply not enough to want to sell products in the international market; but what they need to do to prepare for the new business venture.   While export businesses differ, they all share certain characteristics, including a committed management team, production capacity, and financial capacity.

It will also focus on pertinent details such as export planning; how to find international markets; screening potential markets; assessing target markets; payment terms, methods of payment; and export financing.

Participants will learn about the various rules and regulations relating to export.  These include foreign trade policy and DGFT matters, customs, central excise, RBI matters, shipping and logistics, etc.  There will be ample time for them to clarify their doubts.  (KNN/ES)
