Future of MSMEs in India is bright, says Ajay Shankar

New Delhi, Feb 10 (KNN) The future of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India seems to be bright, said Ajay Shankar, Chairman, Expert Committee of Ministry of Commerce and Industry and former secretary, DIPP who was also member secretary of  National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC).

He said that the Government is working to create a good quality infrastructure for the MSMEs. The MSME sector contributes 45 per cent in the country’s total manufacturing.

Talking to KNN, he said that, “We will see a lot of dynamism coming to the MSME sector Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is very positive for the start-ups.”

Shankar said that the lending institutions are being sensitized for the financial requirements of the start-ups and the Government is working towards way to assess start-ups and provide them easy loans.

I am quite optimistic as a lot of equity capital is coming for the start-ups, he added.

Raising concerns over the falling exports, Shankar said decline in exports is a serious challenge. “We do hope it will boost,” he said. (KNN Bureau)
