Government Highlights Progress Under SFURTI, Reports 10–20% Rise In Artisan Incomes
New Delhi, Dec 12 (KNN) Highlighting key outcomes under the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi has said that the initiative has led to a rise in income for artisans.
In written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, the MSME minister stated that SFURTI supports approved clusters through interventions such as setting up Common Facility Centres (CFCs), installing plant and machinery and creating Raw Material Banks. Soft interventions under this includes training, exposure visits and buyer-seller meets.
Evaluation Studies Show Positive Impact
Citing studies by IIM Lucknow, NITI Aayog and a ministry review of 90 clusters, the Minister said artisan incomes have risen 10-20 percent through value addition, product diversification and market linkages, with employment increasing via regular wage work at CFCs.
The studies reported better quality and productivity from modern machinery. They also called for stronger Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and milestone-based monitoring. Women form more than 50 percent in most clusters.
Marketing Support Through Technical Agencies
The Minister further stated that empanelled Technical Agencies are assisting clusters in developing marketing strategies, with a focus on e-commerce platforms, digital promotion and business development support.
