Government Launches Rs 277 Cr MSME Digital Integration Initiative With ONDC

New Delhi, Jan 29 (KNN) The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has launched a strategic partnership with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) through its new Trade Enablement and Marketing (TEAM) initiative.

The program aims to integrate 500,000 MSMEs into the government-backed digital network, with a dedicated budget allocation of Rs 277 crore. Notably, the initiative mandates that women-led enterprises constitute at least 50 percent of participating MSMEs.

Operating as a sub-scheme under the Raising Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) program, TEAM specifically targets women-owned MSMEs operating in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

The initiative will deliver comprehensive support services, encompassing logistics management, accounting assistance, packaging solutions, design services, and catalogue development, addressing crucial operational needs of small businesses transitioning to digital commerce.

T. Koshy, MD & CEO of ONDC, articulated the initiative's vision, stating, "The MSME TEAM Initiative is more than just a program — it's an opportunity to empower small businesses with the tools and resources they need to thrive in the digital age.

By connecting SMEs to the ONDC Network, we are creating a level playing field that enables them to scale, compete, and succeed. Most importantly, this is now the right time for Indian startups to leverage ONDC to tap into the immense potential of India's MSME ecosystem."

The TEAM initiative represents a significant enhancement to India's existing MSME development framework, which includes established programs such as Startup India, PM Vishwakarma, and the Digital MSME scheme.

By facilitating integration with the ONDC Network, the program aims to create an inclusive digital ecosystem that provides expanded opportunities for small businesses while offering a platform for technology enablers to develop innovative solutions.

As India continues to solidify its position as a global hub for MSMEs across diverse sectors, this initiative promises to deliver essential financial and technical support to enhance their competitive capabilities.

The program's implementation is expected to contribute significantly to the digital transformation of India's MSME sector, fostering growth and innovation in the small business ecosystem.
