Govt approves 13 MSME applications to manufacture bulk drugs under PLI Scheme

New Delhi, Mar 30 (KNN) The government has approved applications of as many as 13 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to domestically manufacture bulk drugs under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme fr0m total 33 companies.

On Tuesday, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Bhagwanth Khuba informed the Rajya Sabha that a total 239 number of applications were received by the central government and 49 application have been approved till now which are fr0m 33 companies.

The applications are for 36 products spread across the four target segments, said the Minister in a written reply.

“The 49 selected applications are fr0m 33 companies. Out of these 33 companies, 13 are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) besides some newly incorporated entities,” he said.

Domestic procurement will be accelerated through these large number of projects approved which will further strengthen the ecosystem and marketplace for MSME sector, he stated.

The objective of the scheme is to attain self-reliance and reduce import dependence in critical KSMs/DIs/APIs. Under the Scheme, financial incentives shall be given based on threshold investment and domestic sales made by selected applicant for the eligible products. (KNN Bureau)
