Lucknow, May 22 (KNN)  The various government departments in the state of Uttar Pradesh will now be required to buy 358 listed items including handicrafts solely from micro, small and medium enterprises.

Officiating chief secretary Alok Ranjan issued the order which exempts MSMEs from depositing any earnest money to participate in tenders issued by various government departments.  The government also directed the departments not to put any such conditions in the tenders that may deny MSMEs an opportunity to take part in the process.

“No such conditions should be imposed in the tenders that may put the MSMEs out of competition,” said media reports quoting Ranjan.

To ensure strict compliance of the orders the violation of the diktat will be treated as financial irregularity.

Ranjan also warned of taking action against the officers who will purchase in violation of the order.

Meanwhile, the Indian Industries Association (IIA) has demanded that the state government should revive the Director of Industries (DI) rate contract system for purchase of items manufactured in the state by the MSMEs.

IIA President, Jugal Kishore listed 11 demands of the association and said the CM would be reminded about the SP’s electoral promise of converting industrial plots into freehold ones in the UP Udyami Mahasammelan-2013 which starts from today.   (KNN)
