Govt issues notification allowing household industries to operate by abiding to all norms

New Delhi, Dec 23 (KNN) The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has issued a gazette notification allowing operation of household industries which are mainly the micro or very small industries in residential areas by abiding to norms mentioned in the licensing policy.

After the issuance of this notification, hundreds of factories operating under the threat of sealing action could now operate freely.

According to a notification dated December 11, it had been clarified that the household units with maximum nine workers and 11KW power could be allowed to continue in residential areas and new industrial units of this type could be permitted in residential areas with the condition that no polluting industrial unit should be permitted as household industry.

The notification said, “The central government has — after carefully considering all aspects of the matter — decided to modify the Master Plan for Delhi-2021. And in exercise of the powers conferred by subsection (2) of Section 11-A of the said Act, the Centre makes the modifications in the master plan in the gazette of India.”

In total, 112 types of household industries were allowed in the city, which include agarbatti, medicines (other than allopathic), electronic items, sewing machines and toys. Nine type of household industries were allowed in villages.
