Govt Launches 12-Month Corporate Mitra Programme To Provide Affordable Compliance Support To MSMEs

New Delhi, Sep 7 (KNN) The Central Government has launched the ‘Corporate Mitra’ initiative to simplify compliance for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and make regulatory knowledge and guidance more accessible to businesses.

Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) Joint Secretary Anita Shah Akella said the initiative aims to transform compliance from a burden into a tool for building trust, transparency, accountability and systematic business growth.

Initiative Announced in Budget

The ‘Corporate Mitra’ initiative was announced in the Union Budget 2026-27 and seeks to create a pool of trained and certified para-professionals who can assist MSMEs with business and regulatory compliance.

The programme combines the professional expertise of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) with technical and academic support from IIT Madras, IIT Madras Pravartak and SWAYAM Plus.

ICAI, ICSI and ICMAI have launched the Corporate Mitra course, with 2,879 learners registering for the first batch.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs said the launch of the Corporate Mitra Learning Management System (LMS) marks the beginning of the programme's structured learning and capacity-building phase.

The initiative is intended to create a skilled pool of certified para-professionals who can provide affordable compliance assistance to MSMEs, supporting ease of doing business, employment generation and inclusive economic growth.

12-Month Training Programme

The Corporate Mitra course will run for 12 months in two phases.

The first six months will comprise around 150 hours of structured academic learning delivered through recorded video lectures.

This will be followed by six months of on-the-job training at professional firms of ICAI, ICSI and ICMAI members, giving participants practical exposure to business and regulatory compliance.

The government said the initiative is also aimed at supporting the growth and formalisation of India's MSME ecosystem by improving access to affordable professional assistance.
