GST Council invites FISME to discuss GST-related issues of MSMEs on August 4

New Delhi, July 23 (KNN) In line with the promise made to discuss separately GST issues related to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector, the GST Council has invited FISME to discuss all aspects of GST concerning the MSME taxpayers in the country from across sectors.

Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME), the apex body for MSME associations in the country, has been invited by the Directorate General of Goods & Services Tax (DGGST) for a meeting tentatively on August 4, 2018.

The decision to hold a separate dedicated meeting to focus on MSME sector was taken during the 28th GST Council Meeting held on 22nd July, 2018.

“In the 28th GST Council Meeting held on 22nd July, 2018, it was decided to have a GST Council Meeting exclusively to focus upon Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector on their GST related issues tentatively on 4th August, 2018,”  DGGST said in a letter to the industry body.

The session would consider all aspects of GST with specific focus upon law, policy, procedure, notifications, rates, GSTN related issues etc. effecting the taxpayers of MSME sector in handling GST related matters.

In this regard, the DGGST has sought FISME to submit grievances / issues related to the GST with respect to MSME Sector along with its suggestions for mitigating these issues.

FISME has further requested the MSMEs and MSME associations to forward it the issues they are facing under the GST regime.

FISME has been actively submitting representations to the GST Council and Finance Ministry listing concerns and suggesting measures for the MSMEs from across sectors. (KNN Bureau)
