GST council to hold talks with MSMEs to facilitate ‘ease’ under new taxation

New Delhi, Oct 17 (KNN) Eyeing at addressing the concerns of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of the country pertaining to the newly rolled out Goods and Services Tax (GST), a panel set up by the GST council is likely to meet representatives from different MSME bodies by the end of the month of October.

The 5-member panel constituted by the Goods and Service Tax Council will hold talks with the MSMEs and explore the complications that the sector has faced so far. The meeting with the MSMEs come at a crucial time, just days before the scheduled upcoming meeting of the GST council on November 9.

The prime focus of these talks Is to consult small and medium level manufactures on the different issues they have had under the One Nation One Tax regime of the government so far.

The panel is likely to have Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Jammu and Kashmir finance minister Haseeb Drabu, Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Chhattisgarh commercial taxes minister Amar Agrawal on board as reported by different media reports.

The Goods and Services Tax was launched by the government on July 1 amidst concerns raised by different sectors including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. (KNN/DA)
