New Delhi, Dec 28 (KNN)  Ever since the government launched the India Handloom brand in the market, it has become a boon for the handloom industry.

The Government has decided to organize regular exhibitions/sale festivals in large cities across the country, in order to provide regular marketing facilities for promotion of handlooms and handicrafts.

KNN caught up with some handloom weavers who said that the India Handloom brand has helped them increase their business which earlier had been facing huge losses.

Handloom products manufacturer, Syed Hasan Ansari from Varanasi told KNN that his handloom business was on the point of closing, but the handloom brand helped their business to come back on track.

As for master weaver from Kullu, Gulab Chand who has won several awards for his handloom products, he told KNN that the demand for handloom products remains high.

“Whatever we manufacture, we are able to sell.  People are purchasing handlooms because of the handloom brand,” he added.

According to yet another handloom manufacturer, Jaleesh Ahmed, government officers regularly check the credibility of the Handloom brand, so that no one can sell fake products. “Everyone wants original products,” he said.

Even as their exports have gone up and demand for Handloom products is on the rise after the launch of Handloom brand, the Ministry of Textiles has assured them of continued support. (KNN Bureau)
