'Happy' New Year for small hotel owners

New Delhi Jan 2 (KNN) The New Year time was surely a happy period for the small hotel owners, tourists and small handicraft artisans. KNN caught up with few small scale traders who wait all through the year for tourists during this time.
 
With both Christmas and and New Year falling close to weekends, making it long weekends for the office goers, not only foreigners but there were lots of Indian tourists too, especially at the places near Delhi.
 
We spoke to sone tourist guides, hotel owners and small shop owners who said, "We did good business this time as huge crowd came this time."

Places like Agra, Mathura, Vrindavan and Jaipur, which are just 200-300 Kms from Delhi witnessed maximum footfalls.

Small vendors near Taj Maha‎l said, "This time we are happy. We did good business. Our sale was quite nice."

The General Manager of a four star hotel Four Point by Sheraton located in Jaipur, the Pink city, Ashish Vyas told KNN that after a long time they witnessed such a huge crowd. 

"The whole city did well. Not only the bog hotels but also the small hotels and tourist sector entrepreneurs," he added.

There was huge demand of rooms from the domestic as well as international travellers, he said adding that they also booked tourist guides and went for shopping to the local markets.

One of the foreign tourists‎,who came from California for New Year, Jessica, said, "We dont want to go to the malls. We want to buy the pure handicraft items from the local shops here."

"The Amer fort in Jaipur received around 20000 visitors in New Year which has happened first time," Ashish said adding that the whole month went off very well.

When it comes to the City of Taj, Agra, Das a General Manager of three star hotel Moti Place  in Agra said that the rooms were booked earlier and no single room left vacated.
Manager of hotel Vindhy Residency Sumit Singh said that the business is up from the Month of October and they are happy they did so well. 

 
Taj Mahal is one of the top choices for foreign tourists. KNN caught up with some foreign tourists who apart from visiting Taj Mahaj and Agra Fort bought lots of small gifts from the local vendors.

"We are taking things like Taj Mahal Models pen holders, ‎jute slippers, marble items feom here," Ken, a tourist rom London said. (KNN Bureau)
