Haryana, Aug 16 (KNN) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at bolstering the state's economy and honouring its heroes.

Speaking at the 78th Independence Day celebrations in Kurukshetra, Saini highlighted the state's commitment to industrial growth and social equity.

The Chief Minister announced a significant boost for the state's industrial sector, revealing that over 671,524 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have been established in Haryana over the past decade.

This industrial expansion has created employment opportunities for an impressive 34 lakh people, marking a substantial contribution to the state's workforce.

In a move to support the agricultural community, Saini declared an increase in the commission for 'arthiyas' (commission agents) to Rs 55 per quintal for rice.

Additionally, the government has earmarked Rs 12 crore to compensate 'arthiyas' for losses incurred during the previous rabi season due to wheat shortages.

The Chief Minister also announced a 10 percent reservation for Agniveers in state government's direct recruitments, demonstrating the administration's commitment to supporting India's armed forces personnel.

Reflecting on the state's progress, Saini emphasised the transformative changes witnessed in Haryana over the last decade. He highlighted improvements in social harmony, equitable development, and overall quality of life for citizens.

In a gesture of respect for the nation's freedom struggle, Saini announced an increase in the monthly pension for freedom fighters and their widows to Rs 40,000.

The government has also raised the ex-gratia amount for families of martyrs to Rs 50 lakh and provided government jobs to 415 dependents of martyrs.

The Independence Day celebrations began with the Chief Minister hoisting the national flag and paying tribute at the war memorial. The event featured an impressive march-past by parade units, symbolizing the state's strength and unity.

Saini concluded by emphasising the significance of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, which has ignited patriotic fervor across the country.

He reminded citizens that Independence Day is a celebration of every individual's freedom and a tribute to the sacrifices made by India's freedom fighters.

As Haryana continues its journey of progress, these announcements signal the state's commitment to economic growth, social welfare, and honoring its historical legacy.
