Health Minister Urged To Halt Drug Regulatory Inspections Impacting MSMEs

New Delhi, Jan 9 (KNN) The Haryana Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (HPMA) has requested Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to temporarily suspend the risk-based inspections conducted by the drug regulatory authority.

This appeal comes in response to numerous Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) units receiving cease production orders due to the manufacturing of substandard drugs.

RL Sharma, president, HPMA stated, “We had met the minister and urged him to help the MSME sector.”

He further added, “We want the officials at the regulatory body to become facilitators for the small and medium scale industry and handhold us."

He emphasised the necessity of halting the risk-based inspections temporarily. Sharma mentioned, “The MSME needs time to upgrade as it requires funds and the government should help the sector."

The observed trend reveals that the proportion of substandard quality medicines produced by MSMEs is seven times higher than the national average, as reported by ET.
