Himachal Pradesh Hosts First International Trade Exhibition to Boost Local MSMEs
Sirmaur, Dec 10 (KNN) Himachal Pradesh’s inaugural international trade exhibition was unveiled today by Harshwardhan Chauhan, the state’s Minister for Industries, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, and Employment.
Held at Nahan Chaugan ground in Sirmaur district, this three-day event marks a significant milestone in promoting local businesses and driving economic growth in the state.
Organised under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME)’s Procurement and Marketing Assistance Scheme, the exhibition offers a global platform for micro, small, and medium enterprises to showcase their products.
Minister Chauhan described the initiative as a “milestone,” aimed at connecting artisans, entrepreneurs, and innovators with broader markets.
Himachal Pradesh, renowned for its handicrafts, agriculture, horticulture, handlooms, and traditional arts, has brought its diverse industries together under one roof.
Chauhan lauded Nahan’s selection as the venue, citing its strategic infrastructure and location as ideal for hosting an event of this scale.
In his address, Chauhan emphasised the pivotal role of the MSME sector in the state’s economy, referring to it as “the backbone of our economy.”
He elaborated on how the exhibition aligns with government initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ and ‘Ease of Doing Business,’ which aim to foster industrial growth and innovation.
The minister highlighted various state programs, including the Mukhyamantri Swavalamban Yojana, which focuses on skill development and bolstering infrastructure to empower entrepreneurs.
He also reiterated the state’s commitment to clean and green industrial development, highlighting the single-window clearance system to expedite project approvals.
Chauhan urged the central government to reinstate the industrial package that previously spurred significant growth in the region. He praised the MSME Ministry for its support, asserting that the exhibition is transformative for local businesses, granting them access to global markets.
With its focus on innovation, sustainability, and fostering local talent, the trade fair stands as a testament to Himachal Pradesh’s commitment to balanced and inclusive economic development.
