Hosting SME Federation proposed by FISME during BRICS Working Group

New Delhi, July 13 (KNN) A proposal for setting up of a Federation of SME associations and promotion bodies in BRICS countries has been accepted at the first meeting of the SME Forum organized on the side-lines of BRICS Summit held in Moscow recently.
 
Representatives from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa participated in the Forum.  India was represented by officials from Ministry of MSME, Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) and LBU.    
 
“FISME proposed to host the BRICS SME Federation in its Secretariat and also co-organize its launch session with Ministry of MSME”, informed Chairman FISME’s International Trade Committee and its former President Mohan Suresh.   
 
Joint Secretary in the Ministry of MSME S N Tripathi gave a briefing to the Working Group on Indian MSMEs. Besides, Mohan Suresh of FISME, LBU President H V S Krishna was also present in the meeting.
 
Recognizing the critical role played by SMEs in the BRICS economies, an MSME Working Group has already been set-up in BRICS as a discussion platform having representation from governments, business and institutional structures responsible for the development of MSMEs in the BRICS countries.
 
The Working Group aims to share best practices among member countries on Improving Entrepreneurship Environment, Increasing Access to Finance for MSMEs through financing instruments/mechanisms such as credit guarantee systems, Promoting innovation among MSMEs, Empowering MSMEs expansion to International Market and Youth entrepreneurship promotion in the BRICS countries.
