Include MSME Secretary in Empowered Group for Gati Shakti project: FISME

New Delhi, 2 Nov (KNN) For the development of the ‘PM Gati Shakti Master Plan’, the government has constituted a 20 member empowered group of secretaries (EGoS).

The INR 100 lakh crore project has been conceived for building ‘holistic infrastructure’ in India which Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this year on the 75th anniversary of Independence.

The chairperson of the EGoS will be the Cabinet Secretary and other members will be secretaries from various departments.

Reacting to the development, Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME)- the apex body of MSMEs, has requested that Secretary MSME may be coopted to ensure that MSEs get their due in the contracts wherein 25% procurement from MSEs is mandatory.

“The Gati-shakti is a huge initiative and will give a ‘gati’ ( a momentum) to MSMEs”, FISME added.

The EGoS can include any other secretary for as per need and requirement for the master plan.

It will include the chairman of the Railway Board and secretaries from various ministries, including Road, Transport & Highways, Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Civil Aviation, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Power, Telecommunications, Coal, Mines, Chemicals & Petro-Chemicals, Fertilizers, Steel, Expenditure, Food and Public Distribution, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairying, Tourism and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
