In this context, IBTRD has invited bids from consultants cum contractors to construct buildings for the institute.

For the Rs 12 crore project, the consultant would be required to conduct survey, design and construction of civil, architectural, structural, public health services, finishes and site development work.

INDSETI, Gandhinagar, Vellore, one of the Rural Self-Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) started under a three-way partnership involving the Central government, State government and the Indian bank in 622 districts in the country and has served as a good platform for self-employment training for the youth.

Started in June 2009, INDSETI has so far imparted training to 2811 youngsters, in the age group of 18-35 years, in trades including dress designing for women, mobile phone servicing, making of gems and jewellery, hand embroidery, beauty parlour course, sanitary napkin-making and making of home-care products, till January 2013.

Out of the 2811 candidates trained in 104 batches, 986 have been settled in self-employment and an average of 27 candidates was trained in each batch.

In March 2013, twenty-one persons underwent a 10-day training programme in servicing of laptops.

INDSETI follows the course modules designed by the National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad.

Those who have been successful beneficiaries of self-employment programmes financed by banks are taken as resource persons in areas such as servicing of laptops.

Earlier, INDSETI conducted services once a month for two years to those who completed the training, but have not been able to set up self-employment ventures. This is done to find out their problems and help them start their business. (KNN)
