Indian Railways organizing vendor meets all through the month across the country for MSMEs

New Delhi, May 3 (KNN) Indian Railways is organizing vendor meets throughout May 2019 across the country in a bid to encourage participation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to boost Railway procurement.

The prime focus of the meet is to disseminate information on various initiatives taken by Railways to encourage participation of Industries specially the new vendors in development of Railway.

Indian SMEs play an important role in railway sector manufacturing. There are over 10,000 SMEs registered on the Indian Railways procurement portal.

The Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSME) order 2012 has mandated every Central Ministry/Department/PSU shall set an annual goal for procurement from the Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) sector at the beginning of the year, with the objective of achieving an overall procurement goal of minimum 25 per cent of the total annual purchases from the products or services produced or rendered by MSEs.

The cities where this vendor development meet will take place during May are Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Guwahati, VAPI, Indore, Baddi, Ludhiana, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Vadodara, Secunderabad, Lucknow, Vishakhapattnam, Jaipur, Raipur, Cochin, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Varanasi, Bhopal and Patiala.
