New Delhi, July 21 (KNN) The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) has appealed to the political parties for supporting key economic reform legislations like Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, Benami transaction bill and MSME Bill.

Chamber president Rana Kapoor expressed his hope that political parties will work for the benefit of the economic growth during the Monsoon session of Parliament.

“In a democratic set up, it is but natural that there would be political slug-fest and the opposition parties and the ruling parties are bound to see clashes and skirmishes on a range of issues. But at the end of it all, we are sure that all the political parties would work for the benefit of the economic growth and creation of employment,” he said.

Kapoor said all the major concerns of the opposition need to be addressed but there is need to be smooth functioning of parliament that would send a very positive signal among investors.

He further said this session is quite crucial as the entire global investors’ community is expecting to see passage of the GST bill and resolution of the land acquisition issue in a manner which is win-win for the industrial growth and interest of farmers.

“Farmers’ welfare is as important to India Inc as anyone else. In fact, it is the farmers’ community and the entire rural population which drives the growth. So, under no circumstances, we can go against the interest of farmers,” he said.

Besides the GST Bill, there are other pending legislative work including Benami transaction bill, MSME Bill and that relating to the Negotiable Instruments ….

The chamber said it hopes that the ensuing session would be as productive as some of the previous sessions. “All the major concerns of the Opposition need to be addressed but we expect smooth functioning of Parliament. That would send a very positive signal among investors,” Kapoor said. (KNN Bureau)
