Industry associations observe international women's day

The Federation of Small and Medium Industries, West Bengal (FOSMI) in association with Eastern Chamber of Commerce organized a panel discussion on “Women in the Working Place – Myths and Realities” on March-7. On the occasion they also felicitated women achievers for their accomplishments in their chosen fields.
Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, the Karnataka chapter of the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) was launched on International Women’s Day, the event also featuring a walkathon.
COWE's vision is to build a group of women who are economically empowered, valued citizens of the nation by combining their dormant talent, skills, practical knowledge and resources of women with dedication and commitment.
It seeks to enhance women's opportunities by creating a resource base of technical know-how, management, marketing skills, finance, infrastructure and equipment to promote entrepreneurship.
In Belgaum of Karnataka, Priya Vandana Puranik, who is the owner of Flower Crafts Kuteera Herbal Products, visited the Hindalga Jail to honour senior women inmates.
Talking to them about how they can improve their lifestyle, she taught them techniques for meditation and Pranayama which they can practise to improve their health. Other topics covered were the need to use time wisely. (KNN/ES)
