Ircon International Seeks Partner for Rs 212 Crore MSME Technology Centre in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 13 (KNN) Ircon International Ltd, a Navratna company under the Ministry of Railways, has issued a tender inviting partners to construct and operate a cutting-edge MSME Technology Centre at Technopark Phase-IV in Technocity.

This ambitious project, valued at Rs 212 crore, will be executed on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis using a build, operate, and transfer (BOT) model, ensuring seamless transition and longevity of operations.

The tender was officially floated last week, signaling a significant step towards elevating Kerala’s position in advanced technology and industry support.

The proposed Technology Centre aims to serve as a catalyst for the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, focusing on training and guiding local startups in cutting-edge domains, including artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The winning partner will be entrusted with building the facility over the next two years and will retain operational control for 28 years, after which the centre will be handed over to the government.

This initiative stems from a land lease agreement inked in February between Technopark and the development commissioner for MSME.

Under the agreement, 9.5 acres within Technocity have been allocated for the centre, with a 90-year lease aimed at fostering the growth of the MSME sector.

The centre will provide essential access to advanced manufacturing technologies, facilitate skill development for local youth, and deliver both technical and business advisory services to budding enterprises.

The centre forms part of the Ministry of MSME’s Technology Centres and Extension Centres (TCEC) scheme, aimed at bolstering India’s digital infrastructure and empowering MSMEs.

Beyond supporting local businesses, this facility is expected to enhance Kerala’s digital ecosystem, making the state an increasingly attractive hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Through this pioneering project, Ircon International is extending its legacy in infrastructure to actively support the future of Indian industry, contributing to both technological progress and economic growth in Kerala.

The deadline for the tender application is yet to be announced, and responses from prospective partners are eagerly anticipated.
