Jammu industry delegation apprises President of India of issues facing the sector

New Delhi, Sept 3 (KNN)  A delegation from the Federation of Industries, Jammu (FOIJ) have submitted a memorandum to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee to apprise him of the current industrial scenario in J&K, requesting him to take up the matter with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
 
The memorandum submitted to the President yesterday has listed various measures that the government should adopt to bring relief to the industrial sector in the state.
 
Among them are - restoration of 100 per cent refund of central excise duty paid to the industrial units; 100 per cent income tax exemption for industrial units; constitution of Prime Minister’s task force on MSME recommendations; applicability of existing industrial package of incentives to existing units.
 
The industry delegation has also asked for compulsory purchase by central government organizations from MSMEs; development of new infrastructure; acquisition of land and its development for industrial sector; development of new industrial estates with a joint venture of state government and the private participation; and development of inland container depot in Bari Brahmana Industrial complex with rail link connectivity.
 
Other points that figured in the memorandum are immediate upgradation of existing Jammu airport to the level international grade and Jammu Railway Station as Model One with the construction of new platforms; Metro Train for Connectivity between  Jammu City with suburban areas; introduction of Bullet Train/ Shatabdi Express between Jammu and Delhi; opening of institute of the level of MDI/IIM in Jammu; setting up of a large PSU as mother industry for ancillarisation; and improvements in cross- LOC trade.
 
Giving the Jammu delegation a patient hearing the President assured them he would take up the matter on priority basis with the Prime Minister to resolve issues for the speedy growth of the industrial sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
