Kalraj Mishra says there is no proposal for waiving loans of MSMEs

Coimbatore, June 10 (KNN) Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra clarified there is no proposal for waiving the loans of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and said there are more than four lakh sick MSME units in the country out of which 35,000 units have the possibility of getting revived.
 
On Tuesday, Mishra interacted with the entrepreneurs of Coir industry in Coimbatore. He had said this on the side-lines of this event.
 
On being asked by the media whether the Ministry is thinking of waiving the loans for MSMEs on the lines of agriculture sector, the Minister replied “No No,” and added that the Ministry has already come out with a scheme for revival of sick units by providing assistance to the.
 
Mishra said the Ministry wanted the revival of as many sick units as possible without making them non-performing assets.
 
The Minister also said that Coimbatore has been identified as one of the top 15 locations to set up tool rooms during this plan period. Mishra said setting up of extension office in the city would be considered so that the MSMEs could benefit from it.
